Yarrangobilly Caves Full Day Tour

 

Join us for a wonderful full day adventure tour out to the jewel in the crown of Kosciuszko National Parks Yarrangobilly Caves for an experience like no other. From the moment we turnoff the Snowy Mountains highway and descend the winding bush track to the caves precinct you instantly feel an aura of adventure. Discovered in 1834 Yarrangobilly’s
limestone walls have been shaped and developed over millions of years. Explore jaw
dropping caves and caverns on a self or fully guided tour of this magnificent underworld environment. Just the grandeur of the historic and beautifully restored heritage listed Caves House is well worth the drive. 

Taking the road less travelled and arriving early allows for a stellar day of adventure from hiking, cave exploring, swimming, and sightseeing. Nature lovers will be in their element at Yarrangobilly with the river walk sure to present wildlife spotting as you meander with the flow of the river.

Multiple bush walks offer spectacular views of the river, limestone cliffs, caves house and the Glory Arch. Self-guided tours of the spectacular South Glory caves are generally available from 9.30am-4pm.

Jillabenan cave is the smallest but most accessible as you embark on a 73-metre journey inside this two-million-year-old cave for a euphoric experience. Guided tours of Jillabenan caves are also available from 10.30am – 2.30pm. Bookings and tickets for cave tours are essential and can be pre- purchased online at: nswparks.info/toursyarrangobilly. There’s no need to worry about the weather as the caves are always a pleasant 13 degrees inside so pack a small torch, an extra layer and wear sturdy footwear.

After a couple of hours of sightseeing, bush walking and exploring caves make sure you also pack your swimmers to experience the big draw card Yarrangobilly’s amazing thermal pool. This stunning pool was built around a spring that naturally heats the water from a kilometre below to a comfortable 27 degrees all year. A short but step track descends into the Rules creek valley the thermal pool is a hidden oasis deep amongst towering eucalypts and beside the river. A relaxing soak in the mineralised thermal pool is a magical experience. There is also a shaded picnic area with BBQ’s, toilets & change rooms for your convenience.

 There are plenty of photo opportunities for what can best be described as energetic fun day out surrounded by nature. The area was damaged in the January 2020 bushfires that burnt through the National Park & threatened the historic Caves house, but the regrowth is now in full swing.

Your tour commences & concludes from your accommodation in Jindabyne. We will collect you in one of our comfortable fleet vehicles. Pick up from your accommodation will commence from approximately 8am, we plan to arrive at the caves by approximately 10.30am (we recommend pre booking your cave tour after 10.30am but before 2pm) drop off will be at the caves house precinct and visitor centre from here you are free to explore, take a cave tour or enjoy one of the scenic walks.

Make your own way to the Thermal pool for a refreshing soak where we will meet you from midday. A light lunch & refreshments will be provided in the picnic area. We estimate that we will head off from 2pm to have you home by 5pm. On the journey there and back we’ll offer a refreshment stop in Adaminaby additionally where it’s safe to do so we’d be happy to stop for some awesome photo opportunities as we drive along the Snowy Mountains Highway which during Winter is often snow covered.

We will pass by the abandoned gold mining town & birthplace of Australian skiing Kiandra. It’s common to spot alpine wild brumbies not far off the road & when we do it’s always a delight to stop where possible to admire these beautiful wild horses.

The full day tour from 8am -5pm costs from $850.00 per tour this includes return transport, light refreshments, and lunch at Yarrangobilly caves plus National Park entry fees. Cave Tour entry costs is excluded and will need to booked by the passenger in advance direct to ensure availability. We also provide drinking water & sunscreen. You’re welcome to pack any additional food or beverages in our car fridge to be enjoyed on the tour. This full day tour will be best suited for 4 -10 passengers that have an energetic outlook & enjoy being out in nature.
